During Apple’s Let Loose event, the company finally unveiled the long-anticipated M4 iPad Pro. It offers several new perks compared to the previous generation, including some exclusive features. This is everything you need to know about this tablet launching next week.
Ultra Retina XDR display: In new 11-inch and 13-inch options, the M4 iPad Pro ditches LCD and miniLED to a new screen. Apple calls the tandem OLED option Ultra Retina XDR display. It offers a perfect black and brighter display with an improved HDR.
Nano-texture option: With the 1TB and 2TB models, Apple added a nano-texture option, which helps avoid glare by improving visibility outdoors or with light directly in the iPad.
Polish cloth: Apple’s infamous Polish cloth comes with the 1TB and 2TB iPad Pro options.
M4 chip: The new iPad Pro skipped the M3 processor and comes with the new M4 option. The highest models include a 10-core CPU with 4 performance cores and 6 efficiency cores, a 10-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine.
New TrueDepth Camera: Following the iPad 10 change, the M4 iPad Pro also has a landscape 12MP Ultra Wide camera. With that, Face ID now unlocks horizontally, and Apple has made the iPad a bit more similar to a MacBook.
Apple Pencil Pro: Only the new M2 iPad Air and M4 iPad Pro models can take advantage of the all-new Apple Pencil Pro.
Exclusive Magic Keyboard: There’s a new Magic Keyboard for this iPad. It’s made of aluminum and has function keys for the first time.
Here’s the feature Apple removed from the M4 iPad Pro
Besides all these new features, Apple has removed the ultra-wide camera from the M4 iPad Pro. Although the company doesn’t explain why, you can see where it used to be now features the LiDAR Scanner. With that, the long-rumored Spatial Video support for the new iPad Pro is nowhere near launching.
Previously, Apple used to promote this second camera for photo and video recording. Now, it seems the company doesn’t want to push the iPad as a device to record footage. Instead, Apple focuses on the iPhone 15 Pro for it.
