M2 iPad Air lineup announced with new 13-inch model

The long-anticipated M2 iPad Air has just been announced during Apple’s Let Loose event, the first update to this tablet lineup since 2022. With this new model, Apple is upgrading the iPad with a better chip and a new 13-inch option. This is the first time the company has unveiled a bigger non-Pro iPad.

The M2 chip features an 8-core CPU — up to 15 percent faster than M1 — with advancements in both performance and efficiency cores and a 10-core GPU, delivering up to 35 percent faster graphics performance for the most demanding users. Combined with the CPU and GPU, the 16-core Neural Engine can process 15.8 trillion operations per second — 40 percent more than M1 — making iPad Air even more powerful when handling machine learning tasks.

The new iPad Air comes in the following colors:

  • Blue
  • Purple
  • Starlight
  • Spacey Gray

Apple is also expanding the storage available with these options:

Available in 11-inch and 13-inch displays, this device still supports the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil 2/USB-C Apple Pencil. As expected, this device has a camera in a new position, so it keeps you centered when you’re using the iPad in a landslide position.

The iPad Air can be pre-ordered today for $599. The bigger 13-inch M2 iPad Air costs $799. It’s launching next week.
