Looking for a laugh this weekend? Hulu’s got you covered.

On Friday, June 14, Hulu added a bunch of great stand-up comedy specials to its library from a wide variety of talented comedians. I am not sure why all of these specials started streaming on the same day, but if it’s as blazing hot where you live as it is here in Phoenix, staying inside and binge-watching all of them sounds like a great way to spend the weekend.

There were 10 specials added to Hulu on Friday, but here are the 6 you need to watch:

Best stand-up comedy specials on Hulu

Joel McHale: Live from Pyongyang

In 2019, Community’s Joel McHale released his first stand-up special, in which he jokes about feeding alligators, being mistaken for Daniel Tosh, and wanting to change the name of the San Francisco 49ers. It’s still his only stand-up special to date.

Lavell Crawford: New Look, Same Funny

Lavell Crawford, who you might recognize as Huell in AMC’s Breaking Bad, has been performing stand-up since 1990, and has released several stand-up specials over the years. His latest, New Look, Same Funny, was filmed in 2019 after he lost 120 pounds, and he discusses being a fan of first-term Barack Obama and how to deal with cops.

Margaret Cho: psyCHO

In her 2015 special psyCHO, Margaret Cho opens up about clothing-optional Korean spas in Los Angeles, the challenges that come along with pronouncing Korean names, police brutality, and her bucket list, which includes throwing acid and killing murderers.

Mike Birbiglia: My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend

Mike Birbiglia’s specials often toe the line between one-man shows and stand-up comedy. In My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend, he depicts the story of how his girlfriend changed his mind about marriage while sprinkling in wry observations about failed kisses, what it means to be on time, and how a car accident can make you reevaluate everything.

Tom Segura: Completely Normal

Tom Segura’s career has taken off in recent years as the popularity of his podcasts Your Mom’s House and Two Bears One Cave both skyrocketed. His first Netflix special, Completely Normal, is on Hulu, so you can see the early days of Segura’s career, where he talks about his doctor being convinced he does drugs and the journey of a lost wallet.

Whitney Cummings: Money Shot

In between hosting talk shows (Love You, Mean It) and a popular podcast (Good for You), and creating sitcoms (2 Broke Girls), Whitney Cummings has released four comedy specials. Money Shot was her first, featuring jokes about the differences between men and women, not knowing what diesel fuel is, and the pointlessness of catcalling.
